Projects Manager
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Projects Manager. Ideally the successful candidate will be qualified to BSc, C ENG, M.I.C.E or equivalent with a proven track record in managing projects up to the value of £10m within a railway environment with a minimum of five years experience in a similar role. A good understanding of one of the following rail disciplines would also be a distinct advantage: Signalling / Telecoms / Power Distribution. You must be conversant with Railway Group and Network Rail company standards. You will be expected to represent the Company on all matters in a professional manner.
Key Tasks will include:
- Overall responsibility for the planning, management, co-ordination and finances of projects underway throughout the UK.
- To monitor progress in regards to bringing projects in on time and within budget.
- To diligently record and progress on site, change control so that all commercial implications are mitigated.
- Ensuring adherence to programme, through adequate planning of resource to ensure that the project is completed on time within the budget agreed.
Involvement from the initial tendering and conception of the project, through to its construction, and completion of final account.
- Liaising with and supervising the work of the other professionals involved in the project.
- Maintaining records of costing and billing,
- Ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are adhered to.
The role will involve travel, and therefore a valid driving licence is essential

Financial Controller
Reporting to the managing director, the ideal candidate will possess a recognised professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) together with strong communication skills and preferably have previous experience of the construction industry. This is very much a “hands on role”, but as the growth of the business continues, the ability to manage others will become necessary. It is essential that the successful candidate is able to demonstrate the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail, as well being able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of Sage Line 50, and also have up to date exposure to payroll systems and procedures.
Key Tasks will include:
- Responsibility for the nominal, sales and purchase ledgers.
- Provision of accurate and timely management accounts.
- Ongoing financial analysis of the business operations.
- Credit control, resolving invoice queries by phone or written correspondence.
- Preparation of budget and cash flow forecasts
- Management of Payroll and sub-ontractor payments.
- Willingness to have a strategic input to the business.
Salary £34,000.00 + Medical Health Insurance + Pension Contribution (after qualifying period) + 32 days holiday.
The role will be based at our prestigious head office in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, close to rail and motorway links, including M6 Toll.
Site Supervisors/ General Foreman
We are seeking to recruit a number of experienced Site Supervisors / general foremen for various projects throughout the United Kingdom, including sites at Manchester, Carlisle, (North West) Sheffield, Nottingham, (South Yorkshire / East Midlands) Birmingham, Lichfield, Nuneaton, Rugby, (West Midlands / Warwickshire) London and throughout the South East, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth (South West)
Ideally the successful candidates will have gained many years relevant experience of working within one or more of the following railway disciplines, Signalling / Telecoms / Power Distribution Sectors, experience in a Civil Engineering background and CSCS qualifications would also be a distinct advantage. They must be willing to participate in weekend / possession working; they will possess strong communication skills, both written and oral, be highly numerate, and be able to demonstrate a reasonably high level of computer literacy. The post requires as a minimum PTS and COSS certification to be maintained together with the medical requirement for those competencies, and the successful candidates will also be required to undertake pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. You must be conversant with the relevant Railway Group and Network Rail company standards. You will be expected to represent the Company on all matters in a professional manner.
Key Tasks will include:
- To Plan and supervise the day-to-day construction activities at site level, and ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner.
- Determine and procure resources (labour, plant, equipment and subcontract requirements) and assign responsibilities for roles and tasks necessary for the satisfactory completion of the works.
- Maintain and comply with systems for managing site health and safety and welfare, quality and environmental matters.
- Motivate site personnel and arrange for effective productivity and economic use of labour, plant and subcontract resources and achievement of required quality within the contract.
- In conjunction with the project manager, determine methods of working and programme of works
- Be responsible for site inspections, covering safety, quality, environment and general day to day good business practise.
Each of the roles will involve travel, for which the company provides a liveried company vehicle and therefore a valid driving licence is essential.

Installation Gangs
We are seeking to recruit a number of experienced Troughing, Cabling and Civil Engineering gangs for various projects throughout the United Kingdom, including sites at Manchester, Carlisle, (North West) Sheffield, Nottingham, (South Yorkshire / East Midlands) Birmingham, Lichfield, Nuneaton, Rugby, (West Midlands / Warwickshire) London and throughout the South East, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth (South West)
Ideally the successful applicants will have gained many years relevant experience of working within one or more of the following railway disciplines, Signalling / Telecoms / Power distribution sectors, and experience in a Civil Engineering background, CSCS qualifications would also be a distinct advantage. They must be willing to participate in weekend / possession working.
Gangs would typically consist of a minimum of the following: 1No. COSS, 1No. Lookout / Site Warden, 4 No. PTS operatives.
Network Rail medical requirements for those competencies must be attained, and the successful applicants will also be required to undertake pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Key Tasks will include:
- Day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring that work is carried out in a safe manner.
- Installation of Signalling / Telecoms / Power Cabling.
- Clearance of ballast and vegetation.
- Installation of Concrete Troughing, GRC, GRP, ballast boards.
- Construction of UTX’s, URX’s, Manholes.
- Installation of Ducting routes through Station Platforms.
- Construction of REB, PSP bases.
- Installation of Signalling, Telecoms and Power Location cabinets, and bases.
- Installation of Up and Down bank platforms.
- Tarmac reinstatement of platforms, car parks, and depots
- Installation of lineside fencing, gates, access steps.
- Installation of driver’s walkways and safe cess pathways.
- Installation of Signal Post Telephones
- Station platforms, car park and driver’s walkway lighting schemes.
